White Castle is an American restaurant chain known for their small, square hamburgers (aka sliders). According to Wikipedia, there are 377 White Castle locations primarily localized in the Midwest United States. In this article we list every vegan option at White Castle restaurants in 2022.

White Castle doesn’t post ingredients on their website, but they do post an allergen guide. All of the items listed in this article are based on the information provided in the allergen guide and other vegan resources.

French Fries

First up on the list is French Fries. As with most fast-food establishments, the fries at White Castle are vegan friendly! However, the allergen guide does list that these (and many of their other products) are prepared in the same area or on the same equipment as products that contain seafood and dairy allergens. Therefore, those with severe allergies might want to steer clear.

Next up, the Hash Brown Nibblers are vegan friendly as well. These are simply bite-size round hash browns served during breakfast hours.

Veggie Slider (No Ranch)

The first of White Castle’s two plant based sliders is their “Veggie Slider”. The Veggie Slider is a patty made by Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods which includes peas, carrots, zucchini, spinach, and broccoli. As listed on the menu, the Veggie Slider comes with Ranch or Honey Mustard – neither of which are vegan. Instead, top it with ketchup and mustard for a vegan friendly delight!

Impossible Slider (No Cheese)

Debuting in October 2018, White Castle teamed up with Impossible Foods to create the Impossible Slider. This plant based slider is designed to simulate the taste and texture of a meat slider, but without baggage. As listed on the White Castle menu, the Impossible Slider comes with cheese which needs to be removed to make it vegan friendly!

In addition to their vegan french fries and sliders, White Castle also serves many vegan-friendly drinks. These typically include Coke products, but each location may vary.

The last vegan item on all White Castle menus is Mott’s Applesauce pouches. These pouches are exactly as they sound and could hit the spot if you’re in need of more fruits in your diet!

Sweet Potato Fries (Limited Availability)

White Castle also has a variety of vegan menu items that are in limited locations or may only be available during certain seasons. The first of these is White Castle’s Sweet Potato Fries. As can be seen in the photo above, these Sweet Potato Fries are crisscut and fried to the perfect crispiness. Give them a try if they are at a location near you!

Fried Pickles (Limited Availability)

Another limited availability vegan menu item at White Castle is their Fried Pickles. We couldn’t find a list of locations where these are available, so make sure to ask next time you’re at your local White Castle location for these fatty and tangy treats.

Unfortunately, it appears that White Castle has discontinued their Black Bean Sliders. These sliders consisted of a patty made from black beans, red peppers, and corn and were vegan-friendly as listed on the menu. However, keep an eye out for these to possibly return in the future as they made a month long return in 2018.

Summary

That’s it for the vegan options at White Castle. Stop by your local location to try their two varieties of vegan sliders and side of french fries. You might even get lucky and get to try one of their limited availability products! If you liked this article, take a look at at our other “Eating Out” vegan guides here
