According to Wikipedia, there is more than 670  Whataburger stores in Texas and over 150 in New Mexico, Arizona and the southern United States. In this article we breakdown the 6 best vegan options at Whataburger in 2022.

All of the ingredients listed in this article were verified to be vegan with Whataburger’s nutrition, allergen, and ingredient information

1. Garden Salad

While a garden salad is not a very exciting option, most fast-food garden salads can be made vegan friendly including the one at Whataburger. The ingredients of a standard Garden Salad at Whataburger are lettuce with grape tomatoes, matchstick carrots, and shredded cheese. Order it without cheese or chicken to make it vegan-friendly. It you’d like to liven your salad up, Whataburger has optional toppings which include Avocado, Fire Roasted Mushrooms, Grilled Peppers & Onions, and Jalapenos (Fresh or Grilled). Unfortunately Whataburger does not post the ingredients of their salad dressings online, but your best bet at a vegan option is their Herb Vinaigrette or Balsamic Vinaigrette.

2. Fries

Whataburger’s French Fries are vegan! According to the Whataburger website, their fries are cooked in “ZTF Whataburger liquid shortening” which according to the ingredients is Soybean Oil. Pair these fries with Whataburger’s Fancy or Spicy Ketchup, both of which are vegan-friendly.

It should be noted that Whataburger’s French Fries are cooked in a shared fryer with products that contain non-vegan ingredients (chicken, milk, and eggs). If this is a problem for you, make sure to avoid all fried menu items at Whataburger.

Apple Slices are definitely not the most exciting option, but we have to take what we can get at Whataburger. Whataburger’s Apple Slices are vegan-friendly.

5. Create-Your-Own Sandwich

While a create-your-own sandwich may not be on Whataburger’s menu, most stores will accommodate the request if you ask. We have chosen to add this as a option because it may just be your best bet as a vegan at Whataburger. Pick your bread option and load it up with some awesome toppings.

Whataburger has three vegan bread options: Bun, Texas Toast, and Flour Tortilla. Additionally, the “Bun Oil” is also vegan-friendly if you would like your bread toasted.

The topping options include: Avocado, Fire Roasted Mushrooms, Grilled Peppers & Onion, Jalapenos (Fresh or Grilled), Lettuce, Pickles, Onions (Diced or Grilled), and Tomato.

Condiment options include: Fancy Ketchup, Spicy Ketchup, or Mustard.

6. Drinks

The last vegan option listed on Whataburger’s menu is their drinks. Whataburger sells Coke and Dr. Pepper products in addition to their teas and coffee. They also have Simply Orange Juice if you are there during breakfast time.
